3GP Video Converter is a software application developed by Xilisoft to transform your video files from one format into another. Contrary to what the program's name may suggest, this program can convert from and into a wide variety of formats - thus, it does not limit itself to 3GP-related conversion tasks. Besides, you can choose an audio codec as the output format, which means that you can use it to extract the audio of your video files.
3GP Video Converter presents a sober and elegant interface that may result a little bit difficult to understand at first. It allows you to add one or more of your source video files, since it supports batch conversion, meaning that you can convert several video files in one single operation. You can also add an entire folder, or even load the contents of an audio CD for further audio conversion. Once you have added all your source files, you can see them all listed on a special panel together with useful information about them, such as the file name, the duration, the destination profile, the output size, and their status. You can also select one or more of your listed files and delete them by pressing the "Remove" button or the Del key. The program also offers a small but functional media player that allows you to have a preview of any selected file on your list and to take snapshots of it.
If you choose your destination profile (format) before you add any of the files to be converted, it will be considered the default output profile for all the files added later. However, you are allowed to change the output format for any of the files on the list at any time, and even to add extra output profiles to a file, which is a very helpful asset, since you can get a file converted into several formats at once.
At the time of choosing your desired output format, you are allowed to modify its specific parameters, so that you can get your files converted in exactly the way you want them. You can configure those parameters using a basic view (where you can set the video size, the video and audio quality, and a split size) or an advanced view, where you can deal with more specific parameters, such as the video codec, the bit and frame rates, the aspect ratio, the encoding mode, the audio sample rate, the number of audio channels, the volume, and many more. As an additional tool, the program also comes with a bit rate calculator - very useful to know the appropriate video bit rate for each conversion task, according to the desired file size and the audio bit rate.
Once the profiles' configuration and your video list are ready, you can start the process with just the click of a button. Undoubtedly, 3GP Video Converter is one of the best video and audio converters ever. |
